An alternative Renoir retrospective at the Palais
– Paris from just £174 pp with VFB
Holidays
Until 22 December 2009, the Grand Palais in Paris hosts a
prestigious exhibition devoted to Pierre-Auguste Renoir, bringing
together a stunning collection of paintings, drawings and
sculptures from the latter period of the artist’s extensive
career. On loan from public and private collections worldwide and
complemented by works from Picasso and Matisse among others, the
exhibition invites visitors to discover a less well-known oeuvre by
Renoir, a body of work reflecting a softer, more modern approach in
style. VFB Holidays is offering two-night breaks in Paris from just
£174 pp (two sharing) including entry to the Renoir in the
20th Century exhibition. The price includes accommodation with
breakfast at the two-star Hotel Residence les Gobelins and return
travel by Eurostar.
Making a lasting impression – French river cruise
from £346 pp with VFB
Discover the collective works of Renoir, Degas, Van Gogh and many
more on a relaxing four-day cruise which heads upstream from Paris
to Auvers-sur-Oise, a small village adopted by Impressionist
painters. There’s a chance to visit Château d'Auvers,
the church famously painted by Van Gogh, along with his final
resting place. On the way back to Paris, the group floats by
Argenteuil, where many of these painters composed their famous
river scenes. This leisurely sojourn concludes in Paris with visits
to the Musée d’Orsay and Musée de
l’Orangerie and is sure to leave a lasting impression. The
cost is from £346 pp (two sharing), and includes return
travel by Eurostar, transfers, twin deck accommodation with buffet
breakfast, three dinners and one lunch onboard, priority tickets to
the museums and the Château d'Auvers, a one-day travel pass
for central Paris and the services of a VFB Tour Manager abroad.
